Carriage Of Disabled Persons and Guide Dogs

The Offence
It is an offence for a taxi driver or taxi company under both the civic Government (Scotland)Act 1982,Section 20 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 to either:

•refuse to accept a booking for a disabled person being accompanied by a guide, hearing or prescribed dog; or
•make an additional charge for carrying them.

If you have a certificate from the licencing authorities confirming that on medical grounds, you cannot transport dogs then this may be available to you as a defence if you can show that your certificate has been displayed at all times.

There is no requirement for a (Notice of Intended Prosecution) to be issued to you for for offences relating to carriage of disabled persons with guide dogs and you may face fines up to £1000.
